Night Hike To Summit Before Sayat Sayat 6.0km to 7.0km

Step-by-Step Terrain of Mount Kinabalu:

We departed from Laban Rata (6km) toward summit at approximately 3.00am before dawn. We were late. We should have started at 2.30am or earlier.

There was a long upward hike. We walked on wooden stairs or rock face, until we reached a ledge (a probably 45 degree to 70 degree slope). We held and followed a rope. It is a very very short distance climb. This is the only part of the entire journey that we need to use our hand to pull ourselves a little. You can see the photo below. Simple stuff.

Thank you Zoe for being the model. Thank you Zoe & Alice for allowing
me to use this photo.

The pictures below shows how the trail looks like in the morning. These pictures were taken during descent. During ascent, we first reach this part of trail at middle of the night. We held on to the rope and walked side way on the ledge.

During the night we first walked on this small ledge side way.

Then we pulled the rope and walked upward like the picture below.

This photo shows how the trail looks during the day. We climbed up at night and descended after dawn.
This photo is taken during the descent.
